Yorvit Torrealba has impact on Sunday
Torrealba had a solo home run in the second for the Rangers' first run. It was his first homer since July 26 vs. Minnesota and it ended an 8-game RBI drought. All five of Torrealba's homers have come at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington this season. He's batting .354 in August.
He also made some nice defensive plays. Torrealba pounced on a bunt attempt out in front of the plate by Erick Aybar and threw the fast runner out at first. He also threw out two runners attempting to steal bases with some nice throws.
"I thought Colby did a nice job of holding the runners and throwing over a few times," Torrealba said. "And the second guy to try and steal, he threw me a fastball up and in, which was easy for me to throw a guy out. I think that's the main thing if you're the pitcher: Do a good job holding the runner and they cannot
get the big lead."
Torrealba admitted that when manager Ron Washington insisted that he get some breaks earlier in the season and that Mike Napoli play behind the plate a little more than a traditional backup catcher that Torrealba didn't want to rest.
"I was fresh and I kept wondering why he was doing that," Torrealba said. "But skip knows what he's doing. And I think I'm fresh and Nap is fresh and that can help us coming up here."
