Will Rangers set attendance record?
So, do a little math and with a crowd of 41,804 today, the Rangers would set a franchise record for attendance. The team's current average of 36,293 ranks fifth in the American League and ninth in the majors. The Rangers have the largest overall (+443,716) and per-game (+5,546) increases in attendance of any major-league team over the same number of dates in 2010.
Michael Young, a veteran of some lean years, said breaking the attendance record would be a significant event.
"It would, it really would. I'm real proud of fan base for doing something like that," Young said. "It's been a scorching summer, but it means a lot to us that every time we come home to our home ballpark we have their support. I think our fans now are starting to recognize how much of a home-field advantage can mean to a home team in baseball. We definitely feed of our crowd. We feed off our energy and that definitely feels good."
