ARLINGTON, Texas -- Left-handed pitcher C.J. Wilson will start Game 1 of the ALCS against either the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium or the Detroit Tigers in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday.

Beyond that, Washington said the club will wait to see which opponent they will face before determining the rest of the rotation. The team was off on Wednesday and will resume workouts in Arlington on Thursday. If they play the Yankees, they'll work out briefly in Arlington Friday morning and then fly to New York.

Wilson was 16-7 witha 2.94 ERA in 2011 in 223 1/3 innings pitched. He struggled in his only start in the ALDS, giving up eight runs (six earned) on seven hits -- three of those homers -- with a walk and six strikeouts in five innings. The six earned runs allowed match Wilson's season high, set on Aug. 27 against the Angels. He gave up eight runs only one other time, Aug. 5, 2005, versus Baltimore. He pitched just 2 2/3 innings that day and surrendered the eight runs (all earned) on nine hits.

Wilson started Game 1 of the ALCS in 2010, pitching a quality start with three runs allowed in seven innings, but the bullpen couldn't hold a late lead to the Yankees in Arlington.

Washington said Alexi Ogando will remain in the bullpen for the ALCS. He pitched the sixth inning in Game 2, the seventh in Game 3 and the eighth in Game 4 of the ALDS and was instrumental in helping the club move on to the next round.

"He gives us too much right now in the scenario that we're in [to change things]," Washington said.

Ogando gave up just one hit and no runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief in the ALDS.
