ARLINGTON, Texas -- One reason fans can feel good about the Texas Rangers' prospects in the World Series whether they face the St. Louis Cardinals or the Milwaukee Brewers is that the Rangers are baseball's hottest team.

These Rangers have gone 40 games between consecutive losses, the longest streak in the big leagues this season. They Rangers haven't lost consecutive games since a three-game home losing streak to the Boston Red Sox on Aug. 23-25.

They went 19-8 in September, swiping home-field advantage by a game over the Detroit Tigers, and they're 7-3 in the playoffs.

"They brought the proper attitude every single day," manager Ron Washington said, "and it was never a day when they didn't give the effort that it took to be where we are right now and have the opportunity to play for the World Series again."
