Umpires set: Jerry Layne is crew chief

ST. LOUIS -- Major League Baseball has determined the umpire crew for the 107th World Series and Jerry Layne, a 23-year big league umpire, will be the crew chief and handle the duties behind the plate for Game 1 at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night. Layne also worked the 2005 World SEries between the White Sox and Astros.
