Ron Washington to alter Game 6 lineup
Mitch Moreland, the left-hand-hitting first baseman who has struggled mightily at the plate this postseason, but hit a monstrous home run in Game 5, will return to the bench. So will left-fielder David Murphy, who made a diving catch in Game 5 and had a key base hit off Cardinals lefty reliever Marc Rzepczynski in the eighth-inning rally.
"I've done that all year since Gentry joined us," Washington said, "and I'm not going to change anything from what I've done all year."
And the way he did it in Game 2 in St. Louis against Garcia, a 2-1 Rangers victory after they scored twice in the ninth inning.
The rookie speedster Gentry was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Game 2. He went 2-for-5 in both the ALDS and ALCS. With Gentry in the lineup, Josh Hamilton will move to left field.
Murphy had been swinging a hot bat heading into the World Series, but his eighth-inning infield hit was just his second in 11 at-bats.
Young started at first base in Games 1 and 2, and has served as the designated hitter in the three games at Texas.
There is no designated hitter for games played in the National League park.
