ST. LOUIS -- Josh Hamilton is tired of answering questions about his health. That much is clear. But the slugger said he's ready to go and that an extra day off doesn't really matter. It won't hurt to give his strained groin a break, but at the same time he said he would have been ready to go for Game 6 if it was played on Wednesday as scheduled.

Hamilton said a few days ago that he doesn't mind playing every day because the groin can get loose.

"I want to play," Hamilton said. "But for most guys, extra days off benefit them. You look around the locker room and you see guys enjoying themselves. I came in and got a nice workout in today. There's no pressure involved and we'll get it going tomorrow."

Hamilton said he went outside and threw long toss and everything was good. He also was swinging a bat in the cages. But he didn't run.

"Trying to limit things that are going to irritate things," Hamilton said.

Hamilton is batting .250 this postseason and .158 in the World Series. But he's still having an impact. He's put some better swings on the ball this series. He had a sacrifice fly off Arthur Rhodes in Game 2 to tie the score in the top of the ninth, had an RBI double early in Game 4 and had a hit and a walk in Game 5.

Hamilton said he's been making some adjustments in the cages and has found a way to put the barrel on the ball more despite the strained groin. He said the warmer weather in Texas wasn't the reason for the better swings and that he should be able to continue his approach in St. Louis.
