ST. LOUIS -- A third Cardinals error -- this time third baseman David Freese dropping a routine pop from Josh Hamilton -- allowed the Texas Rangers to take back the lead, 4-3, in a wild and sloppy Game 6.
After the blunder, Michael Young drove a double to the gap to easily score Hamilton. The Rangers, however, would leave the bases loaded. Adrian Beltre struck out and Nelson Cruz flied out before St. Louis intentionally walked Mike Napoli and then unintentionally intentionally walked pinch-hitter David Murphy to load the bases.
Texas manager Ron Washington opted not to pull starter Colby Lewis for a pinch hitter this early and Lewis struck out.
Lewis has allowed just two hits.
