Parker Vandergriff, movie-making grandson of the late Tom Vandergriff, invited a couple of hundred friends, cast members and crew to view the “conceptualized trailer” for what he hopes will be a full-length, feature film of his grandfather’s 13-year quest to bring major league baseball to Arlington Saturday night. The trailer was shown in the Rangers’ Hall of Fame museum theatre following a reception there and was greeted with enthusiasm and applause.
The trailer featured local actors and was shot last spring. The baseball sequences were filmed at Fort Worth’s LaGrave Field.
Next step: Parker Vandergriff will begin to seek financing for the film, either independently or through a studio. He is as determined to see this project finished as his grandfather was in bringing big league baseball to north Texas.
