Former Rangers outfielder Ruben Sierra is on the 2012 Hall of Fame ballot, one of 13 first-time players to make the list this year.

Former Rangers Rafael Palmeiro (11 percent) and Juan Gonzalez (5.2 percent) got enough votes in 2011 to stay on the ballot for this year. Both were first-time candidates last year. Brian Jordan, who played for the Rangers in 2004, and Phil Nevin, a Ranger in 2005 and 2006, are also on the 2012 ballot for the first time.

Sierra's playing career ended in 2006. He spent much of it with the Rangers (1986-92, 2000-01, 2003) and was inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame in 2009. Sierra has five seasons with 20 or more homers,d rove in more than 100 runs three times and scored at least 100 runs twice. In 1989, Sierra led the American League with 14 triples, 119 RBIs, 334 total bases, 78 extra-base hits and a .543 slugging percentage (at the time, all of those were club records). He played in three All-Star Games (homered in 1992). He earned AL comeback of the year honors in 2001 after belting 23 homers with Texas that year.
