Highland Park's Clayton Kershaw, the National League's Cy Young winner with the Los Angeles Dodgers, will join former Rangers slugger Frank Howard among the honorees at the 2012 Texas Rangers Dr Pepper Awards Show.

The event will take place Thursday at the Arlington Convention Center, with tickets now on sale.

Kershaw will receive the Texas Professional Baseball Player of the Year Award for the second time in the last three years -- he also won in 2009. He captured the NL's pitching triple crown last season, leading the league with a 2.28 ERA and 248 strikeouts and tying for first with 21 victories. The left-hander held batters to a league low .207 average and ranked third with five complete games and 233 1/3 innings.

Howard is the recipient of the Mark Holtz Alumni Award. The right-handed power hitter established all of the expansion Washington Senators career offensive records in his tenure with the team from 1965-71, including 237 homers and 670 RBI. He blasted at least 40 homers and drove in over 100 RBIs in three straight seasons from 1968-70 with career-bests of 48 homers in 1969 and 126 RBI in 1970.

He came to Texas with the Senators after the 1971 season and had nine homers and 31 RBIs in 95 games before being traded to Detroit in August of that year. Howard hit the first home run in a major league game at Arlington Stadium on April 21, 1972 against California. He finished with 382 homers and 1,119 RBI in 1,895 career games with the Dodgers, Senators, Rangers and Tigers.

Doors to the Arlington Convention Center will open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets start at $50 and can be purchased at texasrangers.com or by calling 972-726-4377.
