Rangers players praise Yu Darvish

McKINNEY, Texas -- After an autograph signing at a sporting goods store, Rangers DH Michael Young and second baseman Ian Kinsler reacted with praise of the team signing Japanese ace Yu Darvish.

The Rangers signed Darvish to a six-year deal worth approximately $60 million on Wednesday.

"We're all excited," Young said. "He's a guy with a ton of potential. I haven’t seen much on film other than what everyone has seen, nothing to in depth, but he’s had an incredible career over there. As far as we know he has all the stuff to translate over here to the big leagues. It’s a great addition."

When Darvish visited the Dallas/Fort Worth area last week, Kinsler ran into him at the ballpark and was impressed with the 25-year old who went 18-6 last season in Japan with a league-best 1.44 ERA.

"We didn’t get to talk much [but] I'm pretty excited about it," Kinsler said. "It's a pretty cool process and its pretty cool we're in that position as a organization to do something like that. To do a move like that it says a lot about the organization from where we’ve come [from]."
