ARLINGTON, Texas -- One thing Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux expects in spring training is a desire from Yu Darvish to take in plenty of information on major league hitters.
Maddux said he'll look at video and prepare Darvish the same way he does all of the pitchers.
"But I will think he'll want a little more information," Maddux said. "That's the culture -- love information, love video. We found that out with Yoshi [Tateyama] last year. I'll show him how to do it and help him do it. We'll be there every step of the way."
Maddux can't wait to see his newest pitcher in action live on a mound in Surprise, Ariz., about a month from now.
"It’s going to be a lot of fun," Maddux said. "I think Yu has proven to be one of the top pitchers in the game of baseball around the world. It's going to be a very, very good addition to our pitching staff. We lost a big piece of our staff in C.J. Wilson. He'll help ease that loss."
