The Texas Rangers met with free agent right-handed starter Roy Oswalt over lunch on Monday, according to sources.

The meeting included Rangers general manager Jon Daniels, CEO and president Nolan Ryan, Oswalt, his wife, Nicole, and agent Bob Garber. One source called the meeting "good," but declined further comment.

Various reports suggest that Oswalt would prefer to play for the Rangers or St. Louis Cardinals in 2012. The question for the Rangers is whether it's a fit for them. That likely depends not only on price, but how the starter would fit into the rotation and what other dominoes might fall as a result if everyone currently in the rotation stayed healthy through spring training.

Right now, the Rangers have six starters -- seven if you consider that Scott Feldman is healthy and has started before -- headed to camp. They've committed to seeing whether Neftali Feliz can start and with the addition of Yu Darvish, it's likely Alexi Ogando heads back to the bullpen if everyone is healthy. If Oswalt is signed as a starter, that would mean moving someone else to the bullpen as well or making a trade.

So we'll see what happens.
