ARLINGTON, Texas – Josh Hamilton made a point to emphasize that teammate Ian Kinsler was not aware of Hamilton’s drinking Monday night.
Hamilton said he had “three or four” drinks at dinner and called Kinsler afterward to ask him “just to come kind of hang out to me.” Hamilton added that he did not drink in front of Kinsler or let Kinsler know that he had been drinking.
After the restaurant closed, according to Hamilton, they decided to continue their conversation at another establishment, reportedly Sherlock's Pub & Grill in Dallas.
“We're just talking baseball, talking family, talking life, what we were doing, how our families were, all these things,” said Hamilton, who estimated that they stayed 25 or 30 minutes.
Hamilton said Kinsler then dropped him off “where I needed to be” approximately a quarter mile away.
“He said, ‘You're not going to go back out or anything, are you?’” Hamilton said. “I said, ‘No,’ and then, ‘I'm good.’ Then I did exactly what I told him I wouldn't do.”
