SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Mike Napoli was a late scratch from the lineup for the Rangers on Saturday.

Napoli was scheduled to be the designated hitter against the Chicago White Sox, but he felt a little soreness in his left groin. Napoli said he would probably play if this was a regular season game, but there's no reason to push things now.

"He's just got some nagging things and we just want to make sure that it doesn't turn into anything more," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "He's been getting him some at-bats, so it's not like he's falling behind."

Napoli was scheduled to take the day off tomorrow, but Washington said he's now scheduled to play against the Cleveland Indians.

Other injuries:

*Conor Jackson is listed as day-to-day after getting hit in his left eye with a ball Friday. He does not have concussion symptoms but will sit out Saturday. The Rangers' staff will limit his workload for 24 hours as a precaution.

Jackson lost a ball in the sun Friday in shallow right field and had to receive five stitches.

*Brad Hawpe will try to run the bases Saturday morning to see how his hamstring reacts. If Hawpe shows progress, he'll likely play in Sunday's B game.
