Brad Hawpe, Mitch Moreland play in B game

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Brad Hawpe made his Ranger debut in Sunday's B game against Kansas City Royals.

Hawpe, who started at first base, hit fifth in the lineup. He went 0-for-2 and drew a walk. Hawpe, 32, signed a minor league deal with the Rangers with an invitation to spring training, but he hasn't been on the field much. Hawpe has dealt with a right hamstring injury and missed the intrasquad game on March 1. Hawpe was also scratched from the Rangers' B game on March 8.

*Alexi Ogando started for the Rangers and pitched three innings. He allowed a run on three hits and struck out three batters. The only run Ogando allowed was a solo shot from designated hitter Chris Getz on a 1-0 count.

*Mitch Moreland was a late add-in to the lineup. He led off the first three innings he played. He started the game with a single off pitcher Jonathan Broxton. Moreland collected another single and a double in his second and third at-bats.

Manager Ron Washington moved Moreland up to the cleanup spot Saturday so he could see more pitches, but Moreland finished 0-for-4 with a strikeout against the Chicago White Sox. He was also in the lineup at first base for the A game against the Cleveland Indians.
