Kinsler will take swings on the field for the second straight day but he'll miss his third consecutive game Tuesday due to mild stiffness in his lower back.

"Kinsler said he could probably play today, but we'll play him tomorrow," Washington said.

Other injuries:

*Catcher Mike Napoli will hit and throw for the first time since he sat out with tightness in his left groin. The injury is still lingering and the Rangers plan to ease him back at catcher.

Washington said he'll leave it up to head athletic trainer Jamie Reed and bench coach Jackie Moore on when Napoli will return to the lineup. Assistant general manager Thad Levine said Napoli will likely return to the lineup as a designated hitter before he plays behind the plate.

*Conor Jackson will get the stitches in his left eye removed tomorrow. He will be the designated hitter against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday.

Jackson returned to action Monday for the first time since he was hit above his eye by a fly ball Friday. He replaced David Murphy in left field against the Seattle Mariners. Jackson was hitless in his only at-bat.
