SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Texas Rangers traded left-handed pitcher Kelvin De La Cruz to Cleveland in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced.

De La Cruz, 23, was acquired by Texas from Cleveland in exchange for cash considerations February 21. The club had optioned him to Double-A Frisco this morning. He had appeared in one ‘A’ game for Texas this spring, as well as a ‘B’ game and an intrasquad contest.

De La Cruz went 5-6 with a 4.19 ERA in 23 games, including 16 starts for Double-A Akron in 2011. He was designated for assignment by Cleveland on February 13.

With the trade, the Rangers have 39 players on the club’s 40-man roster.
