SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Weather could play a factor this weekend for the Rangers in both Phoenix and Las Vegas.
It's mostly cloudy in Surprise this morning, but it doesn't look like the game will be affected by rain. Weather.com predicts a 10 percent chance. However Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers in Maryvale has an 80 percent chance.
Weather.com predicts a 50-70 percent change of rain this weekend in Las Vegas, where the Rangers will play two games against the Chicago Cubs.
"I’m big-time worried there," pitching coach Mike Maddux said. "We’ve got four games in two days and a chance that we don’t play on Sunday in either place."
In the event a game against either the Brewers or Cubs is rained out, the Rangers play both teams early next week. Scheduling a doubleheader or a 12- to 14-inning game are possible options.
"Fortunately we’re playing the same two teams we’re getting rained out in two days," Maddux said. "We should be able to work something out."
The Rangers are off Wednesday. Maddux said some players may have to work that day if the schedule is thrown off due to rain.
"I hope not, I had golf scheduled," Maddux said.
