SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers outfielder Craig Gentry felt well enough on Tuesday morning to go to the batting cages and work out. He said he had bloodwork done and will wait to see what results the lab shows, but believes it was just a virus.

Gentry is expected to participate in morning drills as well, though he isn't in the starting lineup at this point for this afternoon's Cactus League game.

Gentry said it's "really important" that he get back in the lineup and start playing every day.

"I want to try to get as many at-bats in and playing time," Gentry said.

Gentry knows he needs to show the club he's ready for the season as they ponder their right-handed hitting options in center field. They'd like for Gentry to seize the job, but he hasn't done that yet this spring.

Other injury notes:

* RHP Neftali Feliz (shoulder stiffness) is scheduled to pitch around 65 pitches in a minor league game on the Royals' side of Surprise Recreation Campus on Tuesday night. Feliz will pitch in that game instead of the Cactus League game so that if he experiences any issues, the club could still backdate a DL stint. But Feliz has felt good and the club feels he's ready to keep building up arm strength for the season.
