ARLINGTON, Texas -- Here are a few leftover notes from Friday's Opening Day:

* Brad Hawpe, from Fort Worth, is back with the Rangers organization. Hawpe signed a minor league deal and has been assigned to Double-A Frisco. Hawpe, 32, was released by the club near the end of spring training. He's a left-handed hitter (and they needed a right-handed one for the bench) and he couldn't make throws from the outfield.

But Hawpe did find his swing again this spring and the club wants to see if he can build up his arm strength (he's returning from Tommy John surgery) and add outfield to his resume.

* Some of you have asked about the attendance yesterday, noting it was under 50,000. Remember: Rangers Ballpark in Arlington has 1,000 fewer seats now with the changes in the outfield. So it was a sellout crowd -- and a loud one. But don't expect record-breaking numbers, because there aren't as many seats.

* The Rangers will get their AL championship rings tonight prior to the 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Chicago White Sox. The ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m.

* There are about 10,000 tickets remaining for Monday's game, when Yu Darvish makes his big league debut. Darvish, BTW, got a nice hand when he was introduced on Opening Day. The crowd also gave him a big "Yuuuuuu" chant.

* Yes, we will be doing an in-game chat tonight here on the blog. So join us, please.
