When New York Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda takes on Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish tonight, it will be the seventh time in major league history that two Japanese starting pitchers have faced off. It will be the first time since 2010, when Kuroda matched up against Hisanori Takahashi.

Here's a list of the games between Japan-born starting pitchers (thanks to Elias Sports Bureau):

Tuesday: Hiroki Kuroda vs. Yu Darvish
July 22, 2010: Hiroki Kuroda vs. Hisanori Takahashi (Kuroda won)
June 19, 2009: Daisuke Matsuzaka vs. Kenshin Kawakami (Kawakami won)
May 9, 2007: Tomo Ohka vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka (Matsuzaka won)
June 19, 2002: Tomo Ohka vs. Mac Suzuki (Ohka won)
July 2, 2000: Mac Suzuki vs. Hideo Nomo (Nomo won)
May 7, 1999: Hideki Irabu vs. Mac Suzuki (Irabu won)

* Darvish is trying to start the season 3-0 and become the fifth Japanese-born starter to do so. The list of Japanese-born pitchers to start 3-0 (from Elias Sports Bureau):

2008 Daisuke Matsuzaka: Finished 18-3
2002 Kazuhisa Ishii: Finished 14-10
2000 Mac Suzuki: Finished 8-10
1998 Hideki Irabu: Finished 13-9

If Darvish wins, he will join Ishii as the only Japan-born starting pitcher to begin his MLB career 3-0.
