Josh Hamilton strikes out in first at-bat

BALTIMORE -- In his first at-bat since mashing four homers on Tuesday night, Josh Hamilton struck out against Baltimore Orioles lefty Wei-Yin Chen. It was Hamilton's first at-bat of his career off the rookie. He now has five homers in his last seven at-bats.

Hamilton became the 16th player in big league history to hit four homers in a game and the last since Carlos Delgado in 2003 when he had four two-run homers off three different Orioles pitchers Tuesday. But Mother Nature delayed Hamilton's encore another 24 hours after rain postponed Wednesday's game, setting up Thursday's doubleheader at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Coming into the doubleheader, Hamilton led the American League with 14 homers, 36 RBIs and a .406 batting average.

The 2010 AL MVP is in left field for this first game of the doubleheader and batting in his customary third spot in the order.
