The Rangers are in first place in the AL West at 31-18 and have a 6 1/2 game lead.

They had been spinning their wheels a week ago when they lost two of three games in Seattle and six of 10 overall.

Then the Rangers came home. All of a sudden they are on a four-game winning streak after a three-game sweep of Toronto and Monday night's victory over Seattle. It's the longest win streak for the Rangers since they won eight straight in April.

"We went through a little slump for a week or so and came back home and found our groove especially offensively," Adrian Beltre said. "We've been playing better, and hopefully it can keep going that way."

After this three-game series with the Mariners, the Rangers embark on a 10-game West Coast swing starting Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels.

Beltre said teams go through all sorts of slumps during the season, but sometimes you can win games during those stretches.

"We don’t expect to win every game for six months. We know we’re going to go through some struggles," Beltre said. "But we went through them a little bit and when we didn’t play well we won some games. We might hit some wall later in the season, but we’re trying to be consistent. We have a comfortable lead right now, but we’d rather have a bigger lead right now."
