Nolan Ryan: Nothing new in Josh Hamilton talks
"The lines of communication are open, and there’s been conversations, but to what level, I don’t think probably anything deeper," Ryan said.
Asked if he felt like it was something that was going to get done at the end of the season, Ryan said: "I have no reason to think anything different."
Ryan talked about how impressed he is with Hamilton's start to the season. He was AL player of the month in April and he's got a chance to win the honor for May after belting 12 homers and 32 RBIs. Ryan said Hamilton's red-hot stretch in 2010, the year he won the AL MVP, was the best he's seen from the slugger.
"He was as dominating as anyone I have ever seen," Ryan said about the few months in 2010. "I don’t think I’ve ever seen a period like that. I don’t know that this year I’ve seen as consistent a period yet as he had during that period of time. But during that period of time that six week, he was phenomenal."
