Right-handed reliever Tanner Scheppers has been called up from Triple-A Round Rock to take Holland’s place on the roster and will be available out of the bullpen for this afternoon’s game in Oakland.

Holland said Wednesday that he’s lost 15 pounds in the last 2 weeks because of a stomach ailment and his velocity dropped late in Tuesday’s start as the A’s started to hit him harder in his final few innings.

The Rangers, losers of six of the last eight games going into Thursday’s action, have also seen Scott Feldman struggle as a spot starter with Neftali Feliz on the disabled list. Roy Oswalt is still building up innings in the minors and is slated to pitch today for Round Rock. He should be ready to go around June 20.
