Alexi Ogando injures groin running to first
Alexi Ogando, making his first start of the year in place of Derek Holland, left Sunday's game at San Francisco after throwing three perfect innings because of an injury suffered while running out a bunt single.
Ogando was diagnosed with a right groin strain and will be evaluated Monday, according to the radio broadcast on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM.
With runners at first and second and one out in the top of the fourth, Ogando bunted to the third-base side, but the Giants failed to make a play on the ball, loading the bases.
Pitcher Matt Harrison went in as a pinch-runner.
Ian Kinsler followed with a two-run double to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead.
The Rangers brought Robbie Ross into the game to take over for Ogando in the bottom of the fourth. Ross added another 2 1/3 hitless innings before Aubrey Huff registered the Giants' first hit with a sixth-inning double.
Holland was placed on the disabled list Thursday with shoulder fatigue, and Ogando moved out of the bullpen to fill his spot in the rotation. An MRI revealed no structural damage. Holland joined fellow starter Neftali Feliz, who has a sprained ligament in his throwing elbow, on the disabled list. Feliz could be out until after the All-Star break.
