Holland threw for the first time since being placed on the disabled list, while Feliz has been cleared by team physician Keith Meister and will begin throwing Monday.

Holland was placed on the 15-day DL a couple of days after his last start on June 5 due to shoulder fatigue and weight loss because of a stomach ailment, but he played catch during the team's batting practice Friday.

"Everything was good," Holland said. "I felt real comfortable. I just have to take it day by day."

Feliz is scheduled to throw off flat ground Monday, a step in the right direction. He was placed on the DL after suffering a sprained elbow ligament in his last start May 18. The Rangers are expected to move Feliz to the 60-day DL on Saturday.

Other notes:

* Leonys Martin was called up from Triple-A Round Rock for pitcher Koji Uehara, who was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday with a strained lat muscle. Martin will start in center field and bat ninth in the series opener against the Houston Astros.

* A few pitchers -- Scott Feldman, Matt Harrison, Colby Lewis, Robbie Ross, Tanner Scheppers and Michael Kirkman -- saw action in batting practice Friday to get ready for the Rangers' trip to San Diego on Monday. ... Manager Ron Washington also got a few swings in as well.

* Kirkman saw his first big league action of the season last night, recording two strikeouts and allowing a walk in one inning of action in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

”It was good to go out there and throw some strikes and get some outs," Kirkman said. "If they need me (tonight), I’ll be ready.”

* The Joe Nathan Stony Brook watch party was in full force in the Rangers clubhouse. There were "Go Seawolves" signs around, and Nathan, a Stony Brook alum, had a TV beside his locker with the game on. Many players were still wearing their Seawolves hats, too.
