ARLINGTON, Texas -- When Roy Oswalt throws his first pitch tonight, it will mark the end of an interesting streak for the Texas Rangers. Oswalt will be the first pitcher to start for the Rangers who did not make his major league debut with Texas since early in the 2011 season, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Rangers play-by-play voice Eric Nadel previews Roy Oswalt's first start with the Rangers, his expectations for the veteran pitcher moving forward and more.

Until tonight, the club had a run of 175 consecutive games in which it used a starting pitcher that had made his major-league debut with the Rangers.

Who was the last pitcher to start for Texas who did not make his big league debut with the Rangers? Dave Bush, June 2, 2011. The Rays, by the way, have the longest active streak at 234 games (and still going).

It shows the Rangers have done a better job recently in acquiring and developing pitchers (and it helps that Colby Lewis, drafted by Texas, figured things out while in Japan, too).

Some other Oswalt tidbits put together by ESPN Stats & Information:

Oswalt will pitch his first game for an AL team. Among active pitchers, only Randy Wolf has more starts without playing for an AL team. The list:

Randy Wolf: 356 games started in NL
Roy Oswalt: 326<<
Ryan Dempster: 306
Carlos Zambrano: 296
>>Makes Rangers debut Friday

Oswalt will face a team he has a lot of success against in his career. His 1.94 career ERA against the Rockies is his lowest against any National League team.

Roy Oswalt Career vs Rockies
W-L 8-2
ERA 1.94<<
K-BB 70-2
Opp BA .218
>>lowest vs any NL team
