ARLINGTON, Texas -- Colby Lewis is the latest in a long string of Texas Rangers to be shelved with an injury this season. Lewis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right forearm.

Lewis said that his arm is tight rather than sore. GM Jon Daniels said the injury is not serious, but the organization decided to play it safe and let Lewis rest until after the All-Star break.

Other injury updates:
  • Craig Gentry: Gentry rolled his ankle in consecutive games in the series with the Colorado Rockies. He did some agility drills before batting practice Tuesday and said that his ankle felt good. He is available off the bench today, but likely will not play so he can have another day to rest.
  • Derek Holland: Holland is scheduled to make his first rehab start in Round Rock on Wednesday and will throw a bullpen in Arlington on Friday. Daniels said the Rangers hope Holland will be able to make three rehab starts before the All-Star break and then return afterward.
  • Neftali Feliz: Feliz threw from 90 feet today and said he felt good. He said he expects to do long throws for a few more days before he will be ready to throw in the bullpen. Feliz said he will come back at some point after the All-Star break.
  • Alexi Ogando: Ogando also threw from 90 feet today and should throw a bullpen next week. He said his groin feels a lot better but that he feels it just a little bit and is being careful not to push himself. Daniels is hopeful Ogando will be able to make some rehab starts during the All-Star break and return afterward. Depending on the state of the rotation when he returns, Ogando could start or be a reliever. "I always say i prefer to start, but that's not my decision," Ogando said. "I want to help the team in any way they need me."
  • Koji Uehara: Uehara has been on the 15-day DL with a strained lat muscle. Daniels said Uehara should be one week away from throwing a bullpen.
  • Mitch Moreland: Moreland is continuing to get treatment for his hamstring. He has been riding a stationary bike a lot and is not quite ready to pick up a bat or throw. "It's definitely feeling better," Moreland said. "It's getting to were I can move a little bit better and walk without really feeling it." He said he definitely won't be back until after the All-Star break.
  • Mat Harrison: Harrison is completely recovered after exiting Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies with lower back tightness. Ron Washington said that taking him out was purely precautionary and Harrison is scheduled to start Friday.

Washingto had this to say about the injuries:

“This game is always a mental test. We just play with what we’ve got. That was the one thing I preached from Day 1 is we’ve got to stay healthy. But we’re not going to throw in the towel. We’re not going to make excuses, we’re just going to continue to play baseball. You can’t control injuries."

Other notes:

*Saturday's starter against the A's is still undecided. Daniels said that Martin Perez and Justin Grimm are both being considered for the start, but the decision will be based largely upon how the bullpen is used the next few days.

*Mark Lowe and Michael Kirkman are down for two days after pitching three and five innings, respectively, last night.

*Scott Feldman is now scheduled to make his ninth start of the season against the Oakland A's on Thursday.
