ARLINGTON, Texas -- It wasn't the best looking win, but it was a win, nevertheless, for Scott Feldman on Thursday night -- his second in a row and of the season -- despite struggling throughout his time on the mound as the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics, 7-6.

Feldman, who made the start in place of Colby Lewis, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained forearm earlier this week, surrendered four runs on nine hits with a walk and three strikeouts in five innings of work, but he gave up three home runs in the outing -- all solo shots -- to give the A's an early 4-1 lead.

"Luckily, they were all solo," Feldman said of the home runs. "I think it was a combination of them putting good swings on it and me missing my spots."

The Rangers offense bailed Feldman out in the fifth with a four-run inning that ultimately gave the right-hander the win.

"I just really tried to bear down and keep the team in the game," Feldman said. "Try to just hold them there at four. Luckily, we have a good offense, and they were able to battle back and were able to turn things around."

This season Feldman has had problems with limiting the damage when other teams threaten. On Thursday, he worked himself out of a jam in the fifth leaving two Oakland runners stranded.

Feldman returned to the mound in the sixth, but after giving up back-to-back singles to start the frame, his day was done. Tanner Scheppers came in and got a 4-6-3 double play ball followed by a fly out to end the threat. It wasn't the prettiest pitching effort by Feldman, but it got the job done.

"I'll take a win anyway I can get it," Feldman said. "Sometimes you can pitch good and not get a win, and sometimes you can pitch just OK and your teammates bail you out."

And on Thursday, they did just that, giving Feldman a much-enjoyed win.
