Neftali Feliz being stretched out to start

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Neftali Feliz's first rehab start, expected to be Sunday in Triple-A Round Rock, will be two innings with the idea that he's going to stretch out as a starter.

That means Feliz, who is returning from elbow inflammation, will build innings from there before returning. Feliz threw live batting practice to Mitch Moreland, Alberto Gonzalez and Brandon Snyder before the club departed for Seattle on Thursday. He threw 54 pitches.

"That's the plan right now," Daniels said. "We want to do what's best for him and the club. We want to get him stretched out as a starter and you can bring him back either way, but as we've seen you can never have enough starting pitching."

So the club will make sure they've got the starting pitching depth and then if they need to put Feliz in the bullpen, they can do that.

Alexi Ogando, who was put on the DL on June 12 with a right groin strain, will pitch one inning in Round Rock tonight and then two innings Saturday. After that, he could be in position to rejoin the team.

Other pitching updates:

* Koji Uehara threw 28 pitches to live hitters Thursday and will pitch Saturday at Round Rock.

* Justin Grimm has been promoted from Frisco to Round Rock and will start Saturday.
