Stocks: Roy Oswalt up, catchers down

7/19/2012

Our weekly stock report, as always, features players that are trending up and others who have struggled over the past week.

STOCK UP

StreakingRoy Oswalt: After trending down with a couple of rough starts prior to the All-Star break, Oswalt bounced back in his last outing against the A's. He gave up one run on three hits in 6 1/3 innings in a Rangers' win.

Michael Young: The designated hitter appears to be climbing out of his slump. He has a six-game hitting streak and is hitting more balls to right field, a good sign for him.

STOCK DOWN

SlumpingOffense from catchers: Mike Napoli and Yorvit Torrealba are both hitting just over .200. Napoli has three hits in his last eight starts and still hasn't found his comfort zone at the plate.

Josh Hamilton: After crushing opposing pitching in April and May, Hamilton has cooled. He batted .223 in June and is hitting .171 so far in July with three homers and five RBIs.
