The Los Angeles Angels' newest acquistion, Zack Greinke, will pitch today against the Tampa Bay Rays at Angel Stadium, meaning he won't pitch in the four-game set in Arlington starting Monday.

The Angels shuffled things a bit, naming Ervin Santana as Monday's starter (Garrett Richards will be in the bullpen ready to go if necessary in that game).

That means ace Jered Weaver gets an additional day and will start Tuesday with Dan Haren on Wednesday and former Ranger C.J. Wilson finishing things off Thursday.

By pitching Greinke today, the Angels keep him on his regular day and that allows him to make his first start at home. Still, I'm a bit surprised they wouldn't want him to make that first start in a head-to-head matchup against one of the teams the Angels are chasing in the AL West.

But with two months left in the season, there's still time for that to happen. And Tampa Bay is playing well and is one of the teams vying for a wild card spot in the AL (the Angels and A's are tied for the top spot in those standings with four teams behind them within 3 1/2 games.

The probable starters for the Rangers-Angels series (of course, that's subject to change should the Rangers make a move at the deadline):
