ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers look to keep the hot bats going as they hit the road for a three-game weekend set with the Kansas City Royals. The series opener features LHP Matt Harrison vs. RHP Jeremy Guthrie at 7:10 p.m. on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM/1540 AM/TXA21. A quick look at the matchup:

Harrison (12-6, 3.19): The 26-year-old will be making his 21st start of the season. ... He is coming off back-to-back losses, allowing nine runs in 13 innings in those starts. ... It is just the second time he has recorded consecutive losses this season. ... Despite setbacks in his last two starts, Harrison is 8-3 with a 2.07 ERA in his last 12 starts. ... Gave up five runs on seven hits in seven innings in his last start, which was a loss to the Chicago White Sox last Saturday. ... Has not faced Kansas City this season, but gave up three runs on four hits in just one inning of work during the All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium. ... He is 2-1 with a 4.70 ERA in five games -- four starts -- against the Royals in his career. ... Only career start in Kansas City came Aug. 27, 2008, when he allowed just two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of work.

Guthrie (3-11, 6.68 both AL and NL): The 33-year-old is slated to make his 18th start and 22nd appearance of the season. ... It will be his third start with the Royals since being acquired from the Colorado Rockies. ... Is 0-2 and has allowed 11 runs on 15 hits in 10 1/3 innings in his two starts with Kansas City. ... Has not registered a win since May 31 against the Houston Astros, when he gave up five runs on 12 hits in seven innings. ... Has gone 0-8 with five no-decisions since his last win. ... Threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his lone appearance against the Rangers this season, giving up just three hits with two walks and two strikeouts in the Rangers 4-2 win over the Rockies on June 24.

Hitters: Current Rangers are 44-for-160 (.275) against Guthrie. ... Elvis Andrus (.462) is 6-for-13 with two doubles. ...
