Darvish (11-7, 4.38 ERA): It's the 20th start for the 25-year-old in his first big league season. ... He has the most wins (13) and most strikeouts (145) of any AL rookie. ... He's struggled since July began, going 1-3 with a 6.82 ERA in his last five starts with 20 walks and 39 strikeouts, seeing his seaon ERA go from 3.57 to 4.38. ... His last start was a no-decision Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels, a huge comeback win in 10 innings for the Rangers. This is his first outing against the Red Sox this season, which could prove helpful for Darvish, who is 8-2 with a 2.91 ERA against teams he's faced for the first time in 2012.

Cook (2-5, 5.24 ERA): After a span of four straight quality starts, Cook's last two outings have been struggles. ... Cook has allowed eight homers this season, four of them in his last two losses. ... Cook has never faced the Rangers.
