Matchup: Ryan Dempster vs. David Phelps
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers take on the New York Yankees for four games starting tonight at Yankee Stadium. The game starts at 6:05 p.m. on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM. Here's a look at the pitching matchup featuring RHP Ryan Dempster vs. RHP David Phelps:

He got his first win for the Rangers last Tuesday in Boston, giving up three runs (none of them earned) on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. ... Ian Kinsler's two-out error on a ground ball in the seventh is what led to the runs being unearned when Will Middlebrooks hit a three-run homer. ... Dempster is 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA in his last four starts with the Cubs and Rangers. ... He has received at least four runs of support in both of his starts for the Rangers after getting that much support in just two of his 16 starts for the Cubs. ... Dempster is 0-3 with a 6.45 ERA in four games (starts) in his career against the Yankees, but has started against them just once in the last 11 years (June 18, 2011 at Wrigley Field).
Phelps (2-3, 2.42 ERA): He's been the long man in the bullpen, but with CC Sabathia on the disabled list, Phelps will start while the newly-signed Derek Lowe goes to the bullpen. ... Phelps has made three starts this season, the last one on July 4 at Tampa Bay. He gave up one run on two hits in 4 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and three walks that game, a 4-3 win for the Yankees. ... Phelps has pitched 2 1/3 innings vs. Texas this season and has given up three runs on five hits (11.57 ERA).
Hitters: Derek Jeter (3-for-7), Andruw Jones (13-for-40, 2 HR, 8 RBIs) and Casey McGehee (10-for-31) have hit Dempster well. ... He's held Mark Teixeira to 1-for-7 and Raul Ibanez to 2-for-12. ...
