Oswalt (4-2, 6.53 ERA): The veteran is making his seventh start of the season and first since July 30. ... In fact, Oswalt hasn't even pitched out of the bullpen in 1 1/2 weeks, last making an appearance Aug. 8 at Boston. He allowed four runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings in that one. ... Oswalt was moved to the bullpen after the club acquired Ryan Dempster, who is on the restricted list for personal reasons and is not making this start. Dempster should rejoin the club Monday in Arlington. ... Oswalt allowed eight runs on 11 hits, which included three homers, in 5 1/3 innings to the Los Angeles Angels in his last start July 30. ... He's 1-1 with an 8.18 ERA in two road starts this season (11 innings pitched) with one good start (quality start at Oakland) and one bad one (nine earned runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings at the White Sox). ... He has faced the Blue Jays just once in his career, throwing a two-hit, complete-game shutout in a 3-o win for Houston on June 12, 2005. ... This is first appearance at Rogers Centre.

Villanueva (6-3, 3.12 ERA): He started the season in the bullpen but has been starting since June 29. In eight starts this season, Villanueva is 4-2 with a 3.04 ERA with 50 strikeouts and 14 walks. ... He has five quality starts in those eight outings, including the last two. ... His last start was Aug. 13 against the Chicago White Sox. He gave up one run on five hits in seven innings and got a no-decision in the Blue Jays' 3-2 win. ... Villanueva won all four of his starts in July, making him 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA for the month. But he's 0-2 in August with a 3.79 ERA. ... He's 1-0 with a 3.26 ERA in seven appearances (one start) vs. Texas in 19 1/3 innings.

Hitters: Josh Hamilton is 4-for-5 with a homer, a triple and two RBIs off Villanueva. ... Mitch Moreland is 2-for-6. ... David Murphy and Elvis Andrus are 2-for-15 combined with no RBIs. ... Three healthy Toronto players have at least 10 at-bats off Oswalt: Edwin Encarnacion (.125, 3-for-24), Omar Vizquel (.118, 2-for-17) and Colby Rasmus (5-for-10).
