ESPN Stats & Information (thanks Toby Petitpas, Mark Simon Deontay Morris, Katie Sharp, Jose DeLeon, John Zoni, Dan Braunstein and Brandon Mendoza) looked at Ian Kinsler's solid game Saturday and noted that he's hitting balls on the outer half of the plate. Here's what they found:

* Kinsler recorded his third career game with three-plus hits and four-plus RBI as leadoff batter, most in Rangers history.

* All three of Kinsler's hits came on pitches in the outer half of the zone or further outside. He's been a much better hitter on outer-half pitches this year than on pitches on the inner half.

2012 on inner half of zone: .221 batting average, .402 slugging percentage, 45 hits
2012 on outer half of zone: .309 batting average, .471 slugging percentage, 94 hits (including three on Saturday)
