ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers veteran infielder and designated hitter Michael Young has been reinstated from the paternity list. Utility infielder Luis Hernandez was designated for assignment to make room for Young on the roster.

Young is batting sixth and is the designated hitter in Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Young left in the middle of Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins when his wife, Cristina Barbosa, went into labor with the couple's third child, Antonio. It's the Youngs' third boy, joining Mateo (7) and Emilio (2).

Young left after his second at-bat on Thursday and was able to arrive at the hospital just in time.

"I think I left in the bottom of the fourth and the baby was born in the bottom of the sixth," Young said. "I got to the hospital and he came probably 10 minutes later. The game was on in the delivery room, so we were able to keep up with it."
