ESPN Stats & Information (thanks Dan Braunstein, Justin Havens, Jason McCallum, Mark Simon, Mike Veneziano, John Zoni and Nate Jones) put together a quick analysis of how Yu Darvish beat the Tampa Bay Rays. Here's a look:

* A season-high six of Darvish's strikeouts were with his splitter. Rays hitters missed on seven of 11 swings against the pitch and were 0-for-8 in at-bats ending with it.

* The Rays missed on 21 swings against Darvish, a season high for him.

* Ten of the 16 balls the Rays put in play against Darvish were grounders (63 percent), Darvish's fourth highest percentage of the season.

* Overall, 55 percent of Darvish's pitches were in the strike zone, his third highest percentage of the season. He threw 64 percent of his pitches for strikes, slightly above his 61 percent season average.
