KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On the day after his dream-like major league debut, Jurickson Profar rested.

Ian Kinsler was ready to go at second base for the Rangers, so the 19-year-old Profar was able to catch his breath and reflect on a special Sunday at Cleveland’s Progressive Field. Profar went 2-for-4 and homered in his first major league at-bat, giving the Rangers an immediate dividend on their investment in Profar for the stretch run.

Profar was a teenager in demand Monday morning and seemed to take all the instant notoriety in stride.

He was asked what the best part about it was.

“The win,” he said, flashing a wide grin.

Profar said he heard from “the whole island” in Curacao after becoming just the third teenager (since 1876) to hit a home run in his first at-bat.

Profar led Curacao to a Little League World Series title in 2004 and was asked whether Sunday’s game trumped the LLWS thrills.

“I think so,” Profar said.

Profar said his biggest adjustment to professional baseball was leaving his family.

“When I came here, I was a little bit alone,” he said. “But I made the adjustment. Now I feel like I’m at home here.”
