ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers catcher Mike Napoli was in Arlington on Thursday working out before heading to Frisco for Friday's Game 3 of the Texas League Championship Series. He'll be the DH in that game.
"I'll get some more ABs and then I'll be ready to go," Napoli said.
The catcher said he's had no issues catching, but is not running at 100 percent and doesn't plan on running at full speed, either.
"I feel good enough," Napoli said.
Napoli said he could tell what the championships series meant to the Frisco team and he wanted to help them as much as he could. He had a home run in his final at-bat in Wednesday's Game 2, but Frisco took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the eighth and lost.
As long as Napoli comes out of Friday's game OK, he'll be activated Saturday. Manager Ron Washington said he plans on splitting the catching duties between Geovany Soto and Napoli for the rest of the season.
* Robbie Ross threw a bullpen session Wednesday at around 75 percent and said he'll throw one Friday at 100 percent. He could be activated Saturday or Sunday assuming he has no issues. Ross said he felt good and that the rest has helped him.
"At first I didn't think I really needed it, but my arm feels pretty good," Ross said. "I really did need it in the long run. It's a long season. I've had a lot more innings this year and it's a lot different here. The workload is different in the bullpen than in the rotation."
* Because Josh Hamilton got an injection in his left knee, he can't play for 24 hours or so. So he's out of the lineup tonight. We'll see if he plays Saturday, but the injury is not serious.
* Mike Olt said that he was told he won't need surgery on his foot. He's already got inserts and will start wearing them to combat plantar fasciitis, but he's out at least 10 to 14 days.
