ESPN Stats & Information's Dan Braunstein analyzed Yu Darvish's start Friday and noted how Darvish was able to dazzle the Mariners:
* Darvish threw 11 curveballs, 10 for strikes. The Mariners swung at seven and missed on all of them. Darvish got four strikeouts with the pitch.
* Darvish started ahead of 14 hitters 0-1 and retired them all, including seven by strikeout.
* He threw his cutter a season-high 47 percent of the time and did not allow a hit against the pitch.
* The Mariners swung at 56 percent of Darvish's pitches, the most by any team against him this season. As a result, a season-high 72 percent of his pitches went for strikes.
