ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers-Los Angeles Angels game has been postponed because of rain and will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader Sunday.

Game 1 will start at 12:05 p.m. with Game 2 beginning at 6:05 p.m. at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Both games can be heard on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and seen on FSSW.

It’s the first split doubleheader in Rangers Ballpark history. Texas has played six split doubleheaders on the road, including April 21 of this season at Detroit.

Both teams will then be flying to the west coast after the second game with the Angels heading to Seattle and the Rangers going to Oakland.

"I don't like it (doubleheader), but we've got to play it, so you play it," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "It's something that has to be done."

Yu Darvish goes up against Zack Greinke to open the doubleheader. Saturday's scheduled matchup, Derek Holland vs. Ervin Santana, follows.

Washington said Geovany Soto would catch Darvish in Game 1 with Mike Napoli handling the duties behind the plate for Holland's start in Game 2.
