Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was selected as a Silver Slugger award winner Thursday for the third time.
Hamilton, who also received the award in 2008 and 2010, is the fifth Ranger to be selected at least three times, joining former catcher Ivan Rodriguez (6), Juan Gonzalez (5), Julio Franco (3) and Alex Rodriguez (3).
Hamilton played 148 games in 2012, hitting .285 and finishing tied for second in the majors with 43 homers while driving in 128 runs.
The Silver Slugger award winners are determined by a vote of MLB coaches and managers who named the players they believed to be the best offensive producers at each position in the AL and NL. Managers and coaches were not allowed to vote for players on their own teams.
