First baseman Chris McGuiness, playing for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League, has been named the 2012 MVP of the league.

The 24-year-old Rangers' prospect led the league with 27 RBIs and hit .283 with four home runs in 25 games. The left-handed hitter also had a .370 on-base percentage and a .467 slugging percentage.

McGuiness had six three-RBI games and seven multi-hit games, with his best one coming Oct. 10, when he was 4-for-5 with a double and a home run. McGuiness was also the AFL's week one player of the week.

McGuiness was taken in the 13th round by Boston in the 2009 draft and was dealt to Texas at the trade deadline in 2010 in a deal for catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia. He hit .268 with 23 home runs and 77 RBIs in 123 games for Double-A Frisco last season.
