SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Texas Rangers (1-5-1) secured their elusive first win of the spring season with a 10-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians (5-3) on Friday at Surprise Stadium.

What it means: The Rangers snapped a five-game losing streak and ended their winless stretch at six in 2013 Cactus League contests. They also ended a 10-game winless streak (0-9-1) that dated to the end of the 2012 Cactus League season.

Numbers game: After pitching four scoreless innings Thursday, LHP Derek Holland saw his spring ERA drop from 3.00 to 1.29.

Great glove: Leonys Martin has been drawing attention for his hitting so far this spring, but it was his defensive play in the first inning that should make the highlight reel. Jason Kipnis sent a deep fly to center field that Martin had to break back on. He twisted and lunged backward to make the off-balance catch, saving an extra-base hit. He also added an RBI single while going 1-for-3.

Impressive debut: DH Lance Berkman looked sharp in his first spring at-bat, drawing a walk in a nine-pitch showdown with Cleveland starter Zach McAllister. He also added a second-inning single and finished 2-for-3. Berkman also scored two runs and showed no signs of the calf issue while running the bases.

Two-fers: All five Texas home runs this spring have been two-run blasts after Mitch Moreland kept that trend going with his fourth-inning blast.

Bake can rake: Third baseman Jeff Baker has five hits in his last two games after a 3-for-3 performance Thursday.

First things first: The Rangers had a 1-0 lead after their first inning, the first time since Saturday they held and just the third time over 54 spring innings played. The run also marked the first time the Rangers scored first in six Cactus League games.

Cruz control: OF Nelson Cruz drove in two more runs, giving him the team lead in RBI with 5.

What's next? The Rangers host the Seattle Mariners on Friday at 2:05 p.m. CT. RHP Randy Wells (0-0, 4.50) will make his second start of the spring. LHP James Paxton (0-0, 0.00) will take the hill for Seattle.
