ARLINGTON, Texas -- Life long Rangers fan and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Sunday's Rangers-Angels game.

Yes, Johnny Football was at the ballpark. Texas A&M's record-setting quarterback, the first freshman to win the Heisman, gave the 40,000-plus in the crowd -- some of the Aggie fans -- a glimpse of his baseball skills. Actually, Johnny Football's pitch was high and outside, but it was still a huge thrill for the former high school baseball star.

"It was good," Manziel said. "I didn't bounce it."

Manziel met several Rangers, including Lance Berkman and Ian Kinsler. He also talked to his childhood heroes Nolan Ryan and Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez. The Hall of Famer Ryan, the Rangers' CEO, offered some pre-pitch advice.

"Don't bounce it," Manziel said.

Manziel said Sunday's first pitch was the most nervous he's been since the Heisman ceremony in New York in December.

"That was pretty cool," Manziel said. "I've been a Ranger fan for a long time. I tried to go to as many games as I could. My grandfather always watched. It was great to talk to Nolan and everyone. I don't think I've been that nervous since the Heisman."

Manziel, who hasn't been on Twitter since March 25 because of the scrutiny he received from attending sporting events and a spring break trip to Cabo, said he hasn't missed tweeting.

"It's been good," Manziel said. "I'll post a little picture on Instagram."
